Attract More Deer

Food plots are a popular way to attract deer, turkey, and other animals to your land. When planted correctly, food plots can produce up to 365 days of forage for animals and account for deer's changing nutritional needs from summer to winter.

We have two goals for your food plot:

  1. To attract more animals
  2. To save money

Planting and maintaining a food plot can save you thousands of dollars. Buying protein pellets—which contain ~6.25 lbs of protein per $20 bag—will run you between $3,000–5,000 for as much total protein as a one-acre food plot provides.

The cost to seed a one-acre food plot? $150.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from my food plot in the first year?

After your food plot is planted for its first season, you may notice that the forage does not grow in as fully or as high as you expected.

Deer will nonetheless be attracted to your food plot because it is green and nutritious. As animals come to graze on your food plot, it may remain sparse for the first season, and fill in more by the next season.

What is the difference between perennial plants and annual plants?

Perennial plants, like clover and chicory, will regrow each year. Annual plants, like soybeans, must be replanted each year. We use a combination of perennial and annual plants to ensure your food plot contains nutrient dense food year round.

What is the best food source for deer?

Deer prefer to graze on high-protein forages in the summer and early fall, and high-carbohydrate forages in the late fall and winter.

A good food plot strategy will plan accordingly, and will also supplement perennial food sources with strategically timed planting of annual food sources.
